Another joyous project. These three posters came out of an idea generated during a brainstorming session with the client. We were naturally thinking about movies during these sessions and we came upon the idea of creating a three frame movie. The festival's theme was $$$ so a bank heist seemed like an appropriate "movie" to make. Initially I tried to get some photos of a classic bank vault at the downtown Charlottesville Bank of America. They have a great safe there, but after a valiant attempt by my bankers, Corporate refused. Apparently they are a little shy about having their safes photographed.
Fortunately the local Tea House has an old safe in their facility. It's too heavy (and thus expensive) to move so they use it as the base to a quasi-religious shrine. Nice touch guys.
I fabricated the TNT from dowels and tempra paint. The explosion is an elaborate Photoshop effect. The bills are Optipop photos cartoon-colorized in Photoshop.
What fun! The posters were designed with the intent that they hang together or hang apart, depending on how much space was available.
